To relive the history of the city, our itinerary visits the centennial Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market with its splendid Art Nouveau iron architecture, listed in 1987 by Iphan as a National Historical and Artistic Heritage Site, surrounded by the smells and colors of products and foods typical of the region, located on the banks of the Rio Negro. Following the Paris of the Tropics itinerary, we will pass by Avenue Sete de Setembro surrounded by monuments and colorful facades of the time that open the way to the Rio Negro Palace. Located in one of the main avenues of the historic center, called Sete de Setembro, the place was built in style eclectic, in 1903, to be the private residence of a wealthy rubber merchant, the German Karl Waldemar Scholz. It became one of the most emblematic buildings of that period, which marked the state's economy. Paço da Liberdade, also known as Paço Municipal, is one of the oldest spaces in Manaus. The building, headquarters for decades of City Hall, unites architectural beauty with the origins of the city. Visiting it’s getting to know modern arts and, at the same time, having a special moment to observe local archaeological remains, with rooms in the Museum of the City of Manaus. Theses spaces portray everyday life, the identity and culture of past generations through long and short-term exhibitions, using interactivity to tell the story of the city of Manaus from texts, sounds and images, with an educational, playful and dynamic character. A true invitation to visitors for a sensory tour. To end our Belle Époque experience, we will explore the Largo de São Sebastião, which houses the refined historical monument of the opening of ports to friendly nations located in front of the Church of São Sebastião. And finally, we visit the imposing Teatro Amazonas (Opera House), the greatest symbol of the golden age of rubber and the purest expression of the Belle Époque, the apogee of beauty, innovation and peace among European countries. The incredible hall with 701 seats and three floors is formed by French iron columns and its paintings on the ceiling portray the Amazonian fauna and flora that leave any visitor amazed and thus we end our tour of Paris Tropics, owner of so much beauty and culture on the banks of the Rio Negro.
